TEACHING METHODS OBSERVED

From my observations, the teachers at SD Mutiara Persada employ various effective teaching methods, including the Direct-Instruction Method, Inquiry-Based Method, and Collaborative Learning Method.

The teachers in this school have a firm grasp of their subjects and always utilize the Direct-Instruction Method in their classes. In this method, the teachers act as the primary sources of information, imparting the lessons to the students through the use of essential questions.

In addition, the Inquiry-Based Method is employed by the teachers, where they pose open-ended questions about the topic and encourage students to share their diverse answers and perspectives. This method helps the teachers to gauge the understanding of each student, and the resulting discussions often yield valuable insights and knowledge.

Moreover, the teachers are also adept at implementing the Collaborative Learning Method, which fosters cooperation and teamwork among students. This method allows students to work together on group projects and assignments, enabling them to learn from each other and develop valuable social skills.

Overall, the combination of these teaching methods promotes a dynamic and engaging learning environment in SD Mutiara Persada, ensuring that students receive a well-rounded education that prepares them for their future endeavors.

LEARNING MATERIALS & INNOVATION

In SD Mutiara Persada, the teachers have a plethora of tools at their disposal to aid in their teaching. While books and workbooks are often used, they are not the only resources that the teachers utilize. At times, the teachers spice things up by incorporating videos, pictures, and real-life objects (realia) into their lessons.

These creative teaching aids serve to break the monotony of traditional learning, capturing the students' attention and sparking their imagination. For instance, a video of a science experiment can be shown to illustrate a concept, while pictures can be used to provide a visual representation of a historical event. Realia, on the other hand, bring tangible objects into the classroom that students can see and touch, making the learning experience more immersive and enjoyable.

SOURCES OF LEARNING & TECHNOLOGY

The teachers in SD Mutiara Persada are provided with their own notebook computers and teacher's guidebooks, allowing them to prepare for their classes and keep track of their lessons more efficiently. Moreover, the school provides wifi access, ensuring that teachers can access various online resources to supplement their teaching materials.

In addition to these resources, each classroom is equipped with functional projectors and speakers, enabling teachers to incorporate visual aids and interactive multimedia into their lessons. This feature adds an extra dimension to the learning experience, making it more engaging and stimulating for the students.

In SD Mutiara Persada, a point system is implemented in the classroom to track each student's behavior and academic performance. This system assigns plus or minus points for each task accomplished or behavior displayed. At the end of the semester, the total points earned will be tallied and added to the student's record as an assessment of their academic performance.

This point system is not solely based on a student's performance within the classroom, but also factors in their participation in extracurricular activities such as mall performances and competitions. By considering the student's achievements outside of the classroom, this assessment method aims to promote a more holistic approach to learning. It allows the students to express themselves using their dominant intelligences, as espoused by Howard Gardner's Multiple Intelligence Theory, which is one of the philosophical foundations of this assessment method.

By incorporating this type of assessment, students are given the opportunity to showcase their talents and abilities outside of the traditional classroom setting. This approach recognizes that each student has a unique set of skills and talents that can be harnessed and developed to achieve success in their chosen field. This system not only encourages academic excellence but also promotes the development of well-rounded individuals who are equipped to face the challenges of the real world.
